🐾 Gratitude for a True Farm Friend

Our greatest resource has been Mr. Mike Griffith, along with his daughter’s family—Lori, Michael, and Griff Knox. They have become an invaluable part of our journey. Mike’s wisdom and care helped us nurse one of our does back to health from bottle jaw, an experience that deepened our admiration and trust. We also purchased our incredible Livestock Guardian Dogs from Mike.

People like the Griffiths are what make homesteading feel like community.

🏡 Trust Starts at Home

We’re incredibly thankful for Chance Higdon, our trusted realtor and friend. Chance made the home-buying experience smooth and stress-free, guiding us with integrity every step of the way. His dedication and honesty meant the world to us—and we’re proud to recommend The Higdon Team to anyone looking for their next home.

🌪️ Swift Action When It Mattered Most

After a powerful storm blew a large oak tree onto one of our goat shelters—where 15 baby goats and their guardian, Black Phillip, had taken refuge—Gene Hammond and his team at QUALITY FARM FENCING showed up the same day to help clear the debris. By week’s end, they had a brand-new shelter in place.

We’re deeply grateful for their quick response, compassion, and craftsmanship. Just good people doing extraordinary things. (www.qualityfarmfencing.com)

🏡 Goat Barns Built with Heart and Efficiency

We’re incredibly grateful to H&S Portable Buildings for helping us get started with our goat barns—two spacious 16' x 20' portable sheds that gave our herd the shelter they deserved. One shed was even built onsite, impressively completed by a single team member in just one day... all under the watchful eyes of our curious goats! H&S's professionalism, kindness, and efficiency made the process smooth from start to finish. What a fantastic team!

🐐 A Heartfelt Start to Our Goat Journey

We owe the beginning of our goat adventure to Mitchell Dalrymple, who generously provided us with our first seven goats. He and his family were incredibly kind and attentive—accommodating our needs without hesitation and making the entire process a joy. Their hospitality and genuine care left a lasting impression, and we’re truly grateful for the role they played in launching this chapter of our lives

🐾 Shoutout to the Best Goat Doc Around!

We’re beyond lucky to have Dr. Lee at Moulton Veterinary Hospital. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate, but he also entertains all our quirky questions. His dedication and expertise make him an absolute gem—we couldn’t ask for better care for our herd!  (Moulton Veterinary Hospital LLC | Moulton AL | Facebook)

In Gratitude to Morgan Animal Hospital

We hold deep appreciation for Dr. Gill, Dr. Belue, and the entire team at Morgan Animal Hospital. These exceptional doctors cared for our beloved German Shepherds during their final days, offering not only expert veterinary support but true compassion during a profoundly emotional time. Their kindness, empathy, and gentle guidance meant the world to us, and they remain especially close to our hearts for the comfort they gave when we needed it most.

Neighborhood Craftsmanship at Its Finest

When we needed a massive carport to shield our RV from unpredictable weather, Randall Yoder at Yoder Woodworks came through with flying colors. Friendly, helpful, and truly professional. But that wasn’t our only project with them—we also picked up a goat shed and two incredible chicken coops, one of which we transformed into a cozy little goat milking parlor. Every piece reflects the care and skill the Yoders put into their work. (Yoders Woodworks)

🌿 Resources, Blessings & A Heart for Rescue

We’ve been deeply blessed on our journey and feel called to give thanks for those who’ve poured wisdom, kindness, and support into our lives. From family and neighbors to dedicated professionals and fellow homesteaders—God’s hand has truly guided us.

📚 Along the way, we’ve discovered some incredible learning tools that we’d like to share with others who are walking similar paths:

🐾 Supporting Shelter with Heart

We also proudly support the Morgan County Humane Society, a no-kill shelter working tirelessly for the abandoned and vulnerable animals of our region. It’s heartbreaking how many are left to survive alone in the forests and pastures—but this organization gives them the second chance they deserve.

🙏 If you're outside Morgan County, please consider supporting your own local no-kill animal shelter through adoption, fostering, or funding. Every life saved matters.
